Nashua, NH - On March 18, 2008 "Community Colors" was
presented to the City of Nashua and accepted by Mayor
Donnalee Lozeau.  Created in December of 2007, this gilt
framed silk painting was a collaborative creation of all
of the attendees at the Salvation Army's Annual Red Kettle
Breakfast (including Mayor Lozeau herself) which was
organized by longtime civic activist and arts advocate
Meri Goyette.  The painting process was facilitated by
local artists Amethyst Wyldfyre and Ross Ellis and an
auction was held at the close of the breakfast to raise
funds for the Salvation Army.  The painting was won in the
auction by Pat Thurber who immediately donated it to the
City for public display in City Hall.

"Community Colors is a wonderful visual representation
of what can happen when people gather together to collaborate
on a project" says Ms. Wyldfyre. "People really enjoy being
able to participate in the creation of art and this process
is easy, fun and as you can see from the photo delivers
stunning results!"
Meri Goyette, President of FOR THE ARTIST, a newly formed
Nashua based non-profit whose mission is "Bringing Art to
our community by making the experience of art an everyday
relationship" organized the event which was themed Salvation
Army and the Arts. "This interactive experience was such a
beautiful way to get people to participate in the process
of making art and truly a demonstration of community in action,
not only did we make something beautiful but we were also
able to generate a healthy donation for a good cause."
"FOR THE ARTIST (FTA)intends to continue to bring these types
of experiences to the City because we understand how vital
the arts are to the quality of life here in Nashua." Currently
FTA is sponsoring the Spring Fling Student Art Exhibit at
Hampshire First Bank on Main Street and plans are underway
for a Sculpture Show this summer, a concert and a Summer
Victorian Picnic.
